A Beggar's Purse
by Toni Nelson

I was wearing cotton shorts, a sleeveless blouse, and sandals.  He was wearing a gray colored flannel suit that had definitely seen better days.  Surely his body temperature must have been twenty degrees hotter than mine.  His feet donned a pair of scuffed hard-soled brown wing tip dress shoes.  I watched him as he raised his dangling arms from the sides of his body to rest his elbows on his knees.  He plopped his droopy head into the palms of his hands and our eyes met...

It can't possibly be February!  I had every good intention of updating my website during the month of January and poof, the month was gone!

On January 12, I emailed my manuscript with final edits and the signed Content Approval Form to my editor.  On February 2, I received two emails and a phone call stating that my book had moved to Cover Design and Layout Design!

The Cover Design department is currently sketching and brainstorming ideas for marketability as the book industry is a very tough market.  I can't wait to view the design options.

The one question I receive time and time again is:  "How many pages are in your book?"  I still don't have an answer for you, but I do know that the size is going to be 5"x7".  The Layout Design department will be using fonts to mimic the look and feel of the cover.  They will also be adding page numbers, page headers, and chapter title styles.  This process is referred to as the initial proof.  Once I have agreed on the initial proof, the next step will be the final proof...

While you are waiting to hear from me regarding the final proof, subscribe to my website and you just might receive a free, autographed copy of my book! (Number 400 wins).  I will let you know who the subscriber is next month...

It is not the work we do that is so important.  It's the people we work with.  It's the work God does in our lives through them.  And it's the work He does in their lives through us.  That is what's sacred.  Slowing down and stopping is our way of acknowledging it.
